240/365:2010 The Bishop

Had an adventure today, exploring parts of Fermanagh I'd never seen or been to before. Met this guy along the way, the Bishop's Stone in Killadeas graveyard, an old remnant from the monastery here many years ago.

159/365:2010 Dromore Mound

Historically speaking, this is the best preserved example in Ireland of a Norman Motte and Bailey fort, located in Dromore, County Down. The photo isn't the most impressive though!

154/365:2010 Dromore Cathedral

This weekend they're celebrating 1500 years of Christian witness on this site in Dromore, County Down. This is the current building on the site, the Cathedral Church of Christ the Redeemer.

133/365:2010 A Couple of Carsons

Took another pre-lunch walk in Stormont estate, just up and down the hill, but stupidly forgot my earphones! I don't do enough exercise, so these walks are useful, and also a good opportunity to listen to sermons or music on my iPod. Not today!

At the top, I was looking at the new interpretive signs and spotted this angle for two views of Sir Edward Carson for the price of one!

132/365:2010 Yellow Flowers, Yellow Cranes

The Harland and Wolff cranes in Belfast are a famous part of the skyline in the Titanic Quarter of the city. The whole area is now being redeveloped.

121/365:2010 On The Shelf

A wee day of exploring which ended in Omagh. This was the first time I'd seen my book in an actual bookshop since it was launched two years ago. My previous job was with a Victims' Support Group working with victims of the brutal terrorist campaign in Northern Ireland, particularly in the County Tyrone area. As part of that work, I researched and delivered classes in Irish History, which were used to produce 'Journeying Through Irish History' - only available from Carlisle's in Omagh, or through West Tyrone Voice, or directly from myself...

051/365:2010 Whoosh!

An evening in Dublin to meet up with a French friend over for a conference. Following dinner we took her for a little walk showing some of the sights. This is the Bank of Ireland building with a bus whizzing past. The Irish Parliament of 1782 - 1800 sat in this building, and there are tapestries of the Siege of Derry and the Battle of the Boyne in the House of Lords Chamber inside this building. Remarkable for the centre of Dublin!
