It was the European Pipe Band Championships at Stormont in Belfast today, with an estimated crowd of 20,000 people enjoying the tartan tussle. Despite the heavy showers, a good day was had, both in the pipe band championships and in the drum major competition.

133/365:2010 A Couple of Carsons

Took another pre-lunch walk in Stormont estate, just up and down the hill, but stupidly forgot my earphones! I don't do enough exercise, so these walks are useful, and also a good opportunity to listen to sermons or music on my iPod. Not today!

At the top, I was looking at the new interpretive signs and spotted this angle for two views of Sir Edward Carson for the price of one!

A big day for Northern Ireland (despite the attempts of some terrorists to wreck it). I had a lunchtime walk in Stormont Estate and spotted this new angle on the old building.

Another walk in Stormont Estate. The blue sky was amazing behind the statue of Sir Edward Carson as he gazes down towards the Newtownards Road.

A quick walk up to Stormont and back during lunch. Spotted this clump of Poppy Day remembrance crosses in the grass in front of Parliament Buildings. The red poppies have faded, but the memories represented no doubt have continued through many winters and into spring.

I was at a training morning, so this afternoon I took a quick walk at Stormont estate to clear my head and think through my Family Service talk for Sunday morning. While there, I spotted the last bit of snow, the remains of a snowman.

The view from our bedroom window over the village of Dundonald. More snow fell this morning giving another layer of white.
