350/365:2010 One Snowy Night

350/365:2010 One Snowy Night

I think Dundonald was one of the last places in Northern Ireland to get snow tonight, but it's certainly falling thick and heavy now. This was taken from inside the warmth of the front room looking out!

348/365:2010 Dundonald's Christmas Tree

348/365:2010 Dundonald's Christmas Tree

Stands opposite the Ulster Hospital in the park - Dundonald lacks a real village centre at the heart of the community.

337/365:2010 Snowy St Elizabeth's

337/365:2010 Snowy St Elizabeth's

The new church and the old church side by side, in the snows of December 2010. Sadly someone had already been for a spin in the car park by the time I got up to take some photos!

311/365:2010 Stormy Night

311/365:2010 Stormy Night

Looking out at the stormy night, the only near light is from the neighbour's garage, revealing the water rolling down our bedroom window. A bleak night.

283/365:2010 Great Catch

Harvest decorations in St Elizabeth's Church, Dundonald. The pulpit becomes a boat, complete with fishing nets, a lifebelt and lots of silver fish!

258/365:2010 The Lord's Table

Midweek Holy Communion again. We go for a fairly basic set up on the Lord's Table.

252/365:2010 Behind Bars

252/365:2010 Behind Bars

The view of the sunset from behind the bars of the church office while I was in photocopying prior to the Select Vestry meeting tonight. Select Vestry is the committee of the local parish church, elected annually at Easter.

239/365:2010 Morning Light

239/365:2010 Morning Light

Up early this morning and into the church office to do the Prayer Diary, but the sunlight was great, so I took a few minutes to capture a few photos in the graveyard.

233/365:2010 Silver Linings?

Some fantastic clouds following some torrential downpours!

227/365:2010 View from the Top

227/365:2010 View from the Top

Took Pippa for her walk through the Moat Park today and climbed the 'moat' (although really it's a Motte). There's a great view out over Dundonald, and this one was looking towards the old St Elizabeth's and the Cleland Mausoleum in our graveyard. The Clelands were residents of the original Stormont Castle, or so I'm told.

220/365:2010 Bizzy Lizzy's

Out for a walk with Pippa and another hipstamatic attempt, this time of my 'workplace'.

169/365:2010 The Burning Bush

169/365:2010 The Burning Bush

Tonight I went over to the other side - of Church Green, to the Presbyterian Church for the Installation of their new minister, William. Turned out I went to school with his brother-in-law so we got a good catch up and wondered where the 13 years had gone since we left Dromore High!

160/365:2010 Morning Prayer

This morning we had the traditional Morning Prayer service. A little photo of the big window.

151/365:2010 John Deere

151/365:2010 John Deere

Not a sight you expect to see in a quiet avenue in East Belfast. A tractor parked up at our neighbour's house!

In other news, I took a wee run into town this evening to get a fancy burger from the Continental Market before it leaves Belfast, but the burger stall had stopped serving by 5.20pm even though the Market is open until 8pm! Very disappointing!

138/365:2010 A Wet Evening

138/365:2010 A Wet Evening

This is possibly my worst 365 photo to date - it didn't work at all, but it was the only photo taken on the say so it'll have to do. I think I was aiming for the silhouette of the church tower and Cleland mausoleum, but it doesn't stand out properly. Didn't take any more as it was raining so I wanted together home having popped out for milk!

130/365:2010 Dundonald

130/365:2010 Dundonald

Coming down the Carrowreagh Road this morning, I noticed this great view of the village of Dundonald, so this is today's photo. On the left, you can see the old and new churches of St Elizabeth's, and in the distance at the top right corner, towards Tullycarnet/Gilnahirk/Braniel.

110/365:2010 First On The Doorstep

110/365:2010 First On The Doorstep

So there's just over a fortnight until the elections, and the first people to come round the doors were the Conservatives and Unionists. Can Trevor Ringland unseat a certain Mr Robinson? Here in Dundonald we have a bonus by-election to fill the seat on Castlereagh Borough Council vacated by a Mrs Robinson. I wonder just how much paper is used in the election campaign and ballot papers?

044/365:2010 Strike!

A couple of games of ten pin bowling at the Ice Bowl tonight. I won both games so I was happy!

038/365:2010 Evening Church

038/365:2010 Evening Church

Gathering for evening church in Dundonald. The floodlight on the tower was a bit annoying but I liked the blue of the sky!
