Battled against another cold/flu while leading the service this morning and preaching tonight. Strepsils and Beechams Powders were my relief!

053/365:2010 Humphrey

053/365:2010 Humphrey

Another late night last minute photo. Humphrey is a reminder of riding a camel in Lanzarote last year. I liked the shadow of him appearing on the wall behind him!

052/365:2010 I Found Him!

052/365:2010 I Found Him!

Almost ready for bed and I suddenly remembered I hadn't taken a photo for today. I searched in my pockets for some inspiration and I found him: Nemo on the side of a one pound coin!

051/365:2010 Whoosh!

051/365:2010 Whoosh!

An evening in Dublin to meet up with a French friend over for a conference. Following dinner we took her for a little walk showing some of the sights. This is the Bank of Ireland building with a bus whizzing past. The Irish Parliament of 1782 - 1800 sat in this building, and there are tapestries of the Siege of Derry and the Battle of the Boyne in the House of Lords Chamber inside this building. Remarkable for the centre of Dublin!

049/365:2010 The Manbag

Today was our first staff meeting since the Rector got back from study leave. This is my trusty Fossil manbag, brown leather, with memories of New York - this was my souvenir from our holiday there last year. Inside is my Bible, my organiser and my planners and papers.

047/365:2010 Clergy Quiet Day

047/365:2010 Clergy Quiet Day

Sounds an oxymoron, doesn't it? A bunch of ministers being quiet! Today being Shrove Tuesday and Lent beginning tomorrow, we had our annual Clergy Quiet Day in Carryduff. Speaker was Bishop Bill Love of Albany Diocese in the USA. Again, iPhone picture quality not superb! Plus, it means that I'm not going for the predictable pancake photo, even though we're having some later on!

041/365:2010 Robed and Ready

Today was the first time I had my robes on this year! Taken in the Vestry just before I went in to lead the midweek traditional Morning Prayer service.

As well as my 'Presbyterian blue' shirt and clerical collar, I've got my cassock, surplice and preaching scarf. Keeps you warm on a cold morning!

040/365:2010 Seedy Eyes

I love cherry tomatoes! If I'm cooking, I like to have some to munch on. This one was a bit over-ripe and had burst open, but the two wee seeds looked like eyes looking out on the world!

039/365:2010 MPG

039/365:2010 MPG

Our car has one of those onboard computers that calculates all kinds of things. One of them is MPG - miles per gallon. It's the one that can change the most and I like to keep an eye on it from time to time. There are too many traffic lights and stop-starts in Belfast for a good mpg but every so often with a full tank and a good run of green lights you can keep it over 50 for a while!

035/365:2010 Rainy Windscreen

Waiting on Lyns finishing work, this was the scene looking out the window of the car. Rain drops, red lights, and street lights showing the buildings of Ballyclare.

As Peter Kay would say, it was the fine rain that soaks you through...

034/365:2010 Lunch with Dr Don

034/365:2010 Lunch with Dr Don

This morning I met up with a brother minister in Belfast for coffee. Craig (another 365er) is at a conference and it was good to finally meet him after 'knowing' him through his blog for the past year or so.

If I'm lunching alone, then I lunch with Dr Don Carson. I'm very slowly reading through his excellent and thorough commentary on the Gospel According to John, taking a section every lunchtime. That way, I'm well fed both physically and spiritually.

Today's lunch was corned beef sandwiches with cherry tomatoes and orange juice. I'll raid the fruit bowl on the way to the study getting ready for my one-to-one Bible study this afternoon and tonight's Fellowship Group.

033/365:2010 Pyromania

033/365:2010 Pyromania

Tonight I decided to have a go at an old cliche - the candle burning shot. Turns out I much preferred this shot of the dying moment of a match. The red glow of the tip and the match gently lit by the candlelight.
